If I would have a chance to secure The Dover Prize Fund bursary, I would like to take it as an opportunity to fill the gaps and lacks, that I have experienced as an artist since leaving an art school and as a regionally practicing artist, who resides in an area that has little to no facilities to grow my practice towards a further refinement.
Areas that I would like to spend this bursary on would not just would aid making of new and ambitious work, installation based work, but further grow my skills in screen-printing, research at specialist libraries such as Warburg Institute, that would expand my visual and contextual knowledge and working at a scale, whilst addressing practical aspects, such as travel, materials and access to technical workshops/assistance.
Through sharing the latest developments in my practice through a public exhibition, a potential skill sharing workshop or school/community outreach to introduce wider audiences in ways that my practice operates. I am equally open to Q&A sessions and organising an artist talk in the area and feel confident in reaching out to relevant partners to secure engagement.
I am a visual artist with primary interests in installation, drawing and printmaking.
My multi-disciplinary practice works with investigating ideas and relationships between surface and space, which central to are images, visual observations and structures of understanding visual coding that intersect with everyday living. Within my work, material findings often combine the rhythms of the very mundane with imaginative, playful and structural, static and fleeting, that through making and assembly of objects, materials and ideas play out fictional scenarios and narratives whilst intersecting with an idiosyncratic or personal.
Over the last three years, I have exhibited my work widely, including at venues like Alfred Arcade(2022) and Hidden Wardrobe(2023) in Southampton, Open Hand Open Space(2023) in Reading, Titchfield Abbey, Slade School of Fine Art, Lewisham Arthouse, ASC Gallery and Sarabande Foundation(2024) and Three Room East(2025) in London.
I hold a degree in BA Fine Art from University of Southampton (2022) and MFA Fine Art from UCL, Slade School of Fine Art(2024).
I have previously received a UCL Masters Bursary(2022), Wolfgang Spoerl Scholarship in Printmaking(2023), Eaton Fund Grant (2023)and been short listed for Max Werner Drawing Prize(2024).
As an individual artist, I am always on a look out for self-generated and curated opportunities, both regionally and in London, and willing to explore formats and non-standard venues that could offer a platform for sharing work.
I periodically run an artist collective, that previously received two Arts Council England grants for presenting and promoting professional development for emerging contemporary talent in the regions. In 2024, we organised a collaborative exhibition at English Heritage managed site of Titchfield Abbey alongside, pupils of a local primary school.
I received a public commission opportunity by A space arts in 2022, by showing a text based installation at Alfred Arcade, Southampton.
I undertook A space Arts organised residency Ripe Plums in Southampton between 2022 and 2023, that supports professional development and networking opportunities of emerging contemporary artists graduating from Universities in Southampton area.
