This award would assist in the funding of affording my art studio, in addition to my paints and canvases etc.
I hope to achieve, from the help of this award, a large body of work which I will exhibit. It will also fund research travelling and travelling to network, visit wonderful studios and art galleries around the world, and get my name, and Darlington, out there on the art map.

The Dover Prize Fund has its roots in Darlington. Please explain how you believe your work might enhance and raise the profile of the creative arts in the area. (200 words)

The North East has a special place in my heart, my family are from Whickham, Newcastle upon Tyne. I would love to share the joy of creating, to encourage local artists, in particular young artists like myself to never give up on their creative dreams and to dream big.

Please tell us about your practice. Please include any recent exhibitions if applicable. (350 words)

My practice admires the human body, in particular through my lens as a twenty-first century woman, as a vehicle for life and experiencing, for relishing in the pure existence of living, the mundane, the beautiful and all the in-between, rather than living as an object and result of societal pressures and obstacles. I work with the visuals and senses of my own flesh and mental health journey throughout the work to create a viscous, fluid skin, through layers of impasto acrylic and collaged mixed media. An earthly abstraction seeps through the process: a hopeful, yet struggling intimacy that provokes the question: how can we be completely present and content in our bodies and minds? My recent exhibitions include The Leisure Painter & The Artist Magazine Open (TALP) (2025) at Patching’s Art Centre, Nottingham (2025) and Headrow House, Leeds (2024). My upcoming exhibitions in 2025 include L’Étoile Gallery, Bristol and Art Fair East, Norwich.

Yes, I graduated from BA Art and Design at University of Leeds in 2024.

Yes, I was on the Extended Longlist for Jackson’s Art Prize 2025.

I am part of an upcoming women artist-led exhibition at Bristol, where I will be running a workshop focussing on the idea of the fluctuation of the experiences of our bodies and minds, where we can join together to create art and mindfulness.
