The Dover Prize Funding
If you are successful and receive the £10,000 bursary, please tell us what you would use the funding for. Explain how this award will help move your artistic practice forward and what you hope to achieve. (350 words)
For The Dover Prize, I will use the bursary to undertake a period of dedicated research and development. I want to take this opportunity to slow down and develop new works that explore the following question. What role do aesthetics play in the performance of rituals? I plan to investigate how the community and social movements engage in rituals of waiting, resistance, and mourning. My interest lies strongly in thinking about the role of collective rhythmic movement and the potential impact that shared feelings can have on creating and sustaining a community. My goal is to create a durational performance and to engage with a wider audience.
The Dover Prize Fund has its roots in Darlington. Please explain how you believe your work might enhance and raise the profile of the creative arts in the area. (200 words)
Through my project, I want to engage with communities in Hackney, east London where I live, and Darlington. I aim to produce works that take place in both locations.

I am a sculptor and performance artist who lives in Hackney, east London. My current research investigates five types of transformation: translation, rotation, reflection, dilation, and glide reflection. I am interested in how things acquire new meaning and their relationship to the environment. I create artworks for both indoor and outdoor spaces. My largest project to date, REIFICATION, is currently on view at the Mattress Factory Museum in Pittsburgh (USA) until November 2025. In addition, I collaborate on projects and organise events and performances.
